Salary dataset methodology
Applies to the Cayman Islands salary dataset. Latest month: October 2026, generated 1 November 2026.
Data source
Cayman Job Finder collects public job adverts three times a day from the official WORC Jobs Portal and from employers' own careers pages. Pay figures in the dataset come from the WORC Jobs Portal adverts only, as on every salary page on this site: WORC adverts must show a salary range and use one consistent format, so months can be compared. Many employer careers pages give no pay, or give it in free text. The advert text itself is not included in the dataset.
Period
- Each monthly file covers the WORC adverts posted (approved) in that calendar month, by their WORC posting date.
- Our daily record began on 28 October 2026, so October 2026 covers adverts posted in October that were still open on or after that date.
- A month's file is generated on the first day of the next month and then kept unchanged, so a citation of a month always points to the same figures. cayman-salaries-latest.csv always holds the newest month.
Pay normalisation
- Every advertised pay is converted to a yearly figure in Cayman Islands dollars (CI$): hourly rate × the advert's stated hours per week × 52; weekly × 52; every two weeks × 26; monthly × 12; yearly as given.
- US dollar pay is converted at the fixed rate CI$1 = US$1.20.
- For a pay range, the median and percentiles use the midpoint of each advert's range. The lowest and highest columns use the bottom and top of the advertised ranges.
- Percentiles (25th and 75th) use linear interpolation (the same definition as Excel's PERCENTILE.INC). Figures are rounded to the nearest CI$1.
Exclusions
- Pay that cannot be converted safely: hourly rates without stated weekly hours, daily rates, "bi-monthly" rates (twice a month or every two months), and figures that don't add up once converted (for example a yearly salary entered as an hourly rate).
- Gratuities and tips.
- Adverts that had already closed when the month was generated, because the closed record does not keep the weekly hours; pay figures use the adverts still open then. In October 2026, 1,226 of 1,388 adverts had usable pay.
Groups and suppression
- Job category is assigned from the job title by fixed keyword rules (the same categories as the rest of this site). District is the location given in the advert. Job titles are grouped when they are the same apart from case, punctuation and bracketed notes.
- A pay figure is only published when at least 3 adverts with usable pay support it. Categories and districts with fewer are listed with counts and blank pay columns; job titles with fewer are left out.
- Nothing is estimated, modelled or filled in.
Limitations
- This is advertised pay, not pay actually received. Employers may pay more or less than advertised, and benefits, overtime and gratuities are not included.
- Adverts are not jobs: one advert can be for several positions, and some roles are re-advertised.
- Employers must advertise on the WORC Jobs Portal before hiring someone who needs a work permit (see WORC advert rules), so these adverts may over-represent jobs where a permit could be sought. They are not the whole Cayman labour market.
- Small groups move a lot from month to month; check the adverts_with_usable_pay column before comparing.
