About the role

The Security Centre Ltd. is a leading provider of security services in the Cayman Islands, with operations spanning Guarding, Integrated Security Solutions and Cash Solutions. We are looking for an Assistant Financial Controller to act as second-in-command of our Finance team. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will oversee Payroll, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable, and own the preparation of our Board reporting and annual budget. You will also lead the team's adoption of AI and modern finance technology, replacing manual work with automated, reliable processes. Key responsibilities Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable oversight

  • Supervise the AR and AP functions, setting priorities and holding team members accountable for their work.
  • Own AR aging review and collections strategy and recommend actions to improve cash flow.
  • Oversee supplier payments, approvals and AP controls, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
  • Ensure that customer and vendor records remain current across our accounting, job management and billing systems.
  • Maintain process manuals so the team is resilient and never dependent on a single person.

Payroll oversight

  • Supervise the end-to-end payroll process for a large, shift-based workforce, ensuring pay is accurate, compliant and on time.
  • Review payroll outputs and post payroll journal entries, reconciling payroll to the general ledger each period.
  • Own payroll controls, documentation and the integration between our workforce management and accounting systems.
  • Support and develop payroll staff, and act as the escalation point for complex queries.

Board reporting

  • Prepare and own the monthly and quarterly Board reporting package, from data gathering to final review with the Director of Finance.
  • Go beyond variance reporting to explain the drivers behind the numbers in clear, decision-ready commentary.
  • Build and maintain financial dashboards and KPIs for Senior Leadership.

Budgeting and forecasting

  • Lead preparation of the annual budget, including templates, timelines and coordination with division heads.
  • Prepare periodic forecasts and budget-to-actual analysis, highlighting risks and opportunities.
  • Partner with operational leaders to build realistic, well-supported divisional budgets.

Month-end close, year-end and controls

  • Manage the month-end close, including reconciliations, accruals and review of journal entries.
  • Obtain and review divisional month end updates to support an accurate complete close.
  • Act as the main point of contact for the external auditors and own the year-end review file. This is demonstrated with proven experience managing a year end external audit or review and liaising directly with external accountants.
  • Strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with US GAAP and Cayman Islands requirements.

Cross-functional partnership

  • Work directly with department heads to resolve finance matters and provide informed support to each division, including project invoicing and work-in-progress recognition.
  • Deputise for the Director of Finance when required.

Technology and AI We are building a modern, AI-enabled finance function, and this role is central to it. We want someone who is excited by new tools, not just willing to use them.

  • Champion the use of AI tools across the team for reconciliations, analysis, reporting, documentation and day-to-day problem solving.
  • Identify manual, repetitive tasks and replace them with automation, integrations and AI-assisted workflows, such as the transfer of payroll and billing data between operational and accounting systems.
  • Evaluate, pilot and implement new finance technology, measuring the time saved and accuracy gained.
  • Lead change management: coach colleagues through new tools, build their confidence and update process documentation as workflows change.
  • Apply sound judgement and controls to AI-generated work, ensuring outputs are accurate, reviewed and secure.

  • Hands-on experience preparing Board or management reporting packages and annual budgets.
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP for financial reporting is required.

Attributes

  • Clear, confident communication with the Finance team, department heads and senior leadership.
  • Strong organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to trace and resolve errors quickly.
  • A collaborative leader who develops others and holds the team to a high standard.
  • Able to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Why join us

  • A senior, visible role within the company with room for growth.
